The Institute for Culture and Society at the University of Navarra is organizing an international conference that aims to unpack the complexities of empire—its lived realities, historical memory, and philosophical dimensions. This multidisciplinary event will bring together researchers and scholars to reflect on how empires have shaped, and continue to shape, human societies.

🧠 Conference Themes
This conference encourages diverse and critical perspectives on empire. Themes include:
- Cultural and material legacies of empires in the modern world
- Contemporary geopolitical formations and echoes of imperialism
- Governance, diversity, and religion in imperial structures
- Memory politics and post-imperial identity
- Philosophical debates on imperial legitimacy
- Representation of empire in literature and art
- Educational strategies in teaching empire
- Cross-cultural interactions and frontier exchanges
- Soft power and modern forms of hegemony
- Religious justification and moral narratives within empires
📝 Submission Guidelines
Scholars are invited to submit:
- Individual Papers: 20-minute presentation
- Panel Proposals: 3–4 related papers grouped thematically (90 minutes total)
- Research Posters: Visual presentations of research projects
Submissions must include a title, 300-word abstract, author affiliation, and up to five keywords. Panel proposals should also include a 500-word session overview and abstracts for each paper.
