This exciting opportunity is part of the project <em>\u201cTracing Sociotechnical Imaginaries of Digital Journalism, 1995\u20132025.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the Project<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Digital technologies have significantly shaped debates around the future of journalism. While often presented as solutions to journalism\u2019s challenges, they have also constrained its possible directions and sidelined critical discussions about the complex relationship between journalism and technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This PhD project will critically examine how <strong>sociotechnical imaginaries<\/strong>\u2014visions of the future shaped by technology and society\u2014have influenced journalism from the introduction of the web to current debates around <strong>artificial intelligence (AI)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Key questions include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How have journalists, technologists, and other actors negotiated and normalized new technologies?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>What competing values and norms have guided the evolution of journalism in the digital age?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In what ways has technology been positioned as a necessary and self-evident driver of journalistic change?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The research aims to provide a <strong>critical history of journalism\u2019s recent past<\/strong> within the Northern European context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Position Details<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Duration<\/strong>: 4 years (1.0 FTE, full-time)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong>: Independent research, peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and completion of a PhD dissertation.
