The University of Basel’s Faculty of Psychology is offering a 100% Postdoctoral position within the newly established Center of Digital Lives. This center focuses on the psychological aspects of everyday digital life, exploring how digital media usage impacts well-being and social relationships.​


🔍 Research Focus

The Center of Digital Lives investigates the intricate integration of digital media into daily life, examining its effects within family contexts and its role in stress management. The appointed Postdoc will lead and contribute to research projects aligned with these themes, employing longitudinal designs, experience sampling, and digital media tracking methods.​

  • Preferred Start Date: Between July 1 and September 1, 2025​

📌 Eligibility Criteria

  • PhD in Psychology, Communication Science, or a closely related discipline​
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in researching digital media use in everyday life​
  • Proficiency in research methods and advanced statistics, including longitudinal designs​
  • Ability to analyze datasets using R​
  • Excellent written and spoken English; proficiency in German is preferred​

  • Coordinate and manage individual and collaborative research projects​.
  • Design, conduct, and analyze studies focusing on digital media’s impact on well-being and social relationships​
  • Document and present research findings through publications and presentations​
  • Contribute to and author grant applications​
  • Teach courses, supervise students, and support examinations at the BSc and MSc levels​
  • Participate in organizational tasks within the Center of Digital Lives​
