📢 About the Postdoctoral Fellowship

The School of Communication at SFU invites applications for a one-year postdoctoral position, with the possibility of extension to a second year, as part of a SSHRC-funded Insight Grant. The successful candidate will work closely with Dr. Sarah Ganter, Associate Professor, and will be central to the research, outreach, and administration of a dynamic project at the intersection of media policy, journalism, and platform studies.

📋 Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and co-develop survey and interview methodologies
  • Conduct data analysis and interpretation with the Principal Investigator
  • Coordinate administrative tasks including ethics approvals
  • Engage in outreach and contribute to academic publications
  • Work on-site at SFU’s Burnaby Mountain Campus
  • Participate in academic meetings and conferences

🎯 Required Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Hold (or be near completion of) a PhD in Journalism, Media, or Communication Studies by September 1, 2025
  • Be skilled in survey design and quantitative analysis
  • Show interest in mixed methods and comparative studies
  • Have an emerging publication record
  • Demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills
  • Be fluent in English; French proficiency is an asset
  • Be collegial, motivated, and open to collaborative research environments

💼 Position Details

  • Contract: Full-time (35 hours/week)
  • Annual Salary: CAD $70,000
  • Benefits: Included
  • Work Location: SFU Burnaby Mountain Campus (Metro Vancouver)
  • Majority in-person presence required
