Research Areas of Focus
Applicants are encouraged to align their PhD proposals with one of the following three research lines:
Journalism, Disinformation, Trust, and Society
Explore how disinformation challenges journalism’s credibility in democratic societies. Examine trust as a dynamic social construct and evaluate media transparency, independence, and legitimacy in combating fake news.
New Communicative Actors and Social Polarization
Study how influencers, YouTubers, podcasters, and digital creators are shaping ideology, identity, and political discourse. This line analyzes their impact on younger generations and their role in fostering or fragmenting public opinion.
Artificial Intelligence, Journalism, and Media Transformation
Critically assess the influence of AI on media ecosystems. Topics may include automation, personalization, algorithmic curation, and their implications for freedom of expression, editorial responsibility, and audience engagement.
