Conference on Digital Decolonisation and Digital Justice, University of Johannesburg

πŸ“… Event Dates: 13–14 August 2025
πŸ“ Location: Hybrid – Online & In-Person at University of Johannesburg, South Africa

The African Centre for Epistemology and Philosophy of Science (ACEPS) at the University of Johannesburg is inviting abstract submissions for an important two-day conference exploring Digital Decolonisation and Digital Justice. As digital infrastructures continue to shape global knowledge-sharing, this interdisciplinary conference asks critical questions about who designs these systems and who truly benefits from them.

πŸ“² Why This Conference Matters

Digital technologies have become central to how knowledge is produced and distributed. From algorithmic exploitation to environmental and linguistic exclusion, these injustices demand urgent attention.

  • Epistemic decolonisation & technology
  • Decolonising the internet
  • Indigenous knowledge & AI
  • Algorithmic injustice & reparations
  • Alternative postcolonial technologies
  • Democracy, AI, and digital harms
  • Environmental impact of digital infrastructures
  • Resistance and refusal theory
