Understanding the Role of Diasporic Communities in Media
The Journal of Media Business Studies (JOMBS) is calling for original research contributions for its upcoming special issue titled “Diasporic Media: Business Models, Audiences, and Innovation.” This issue, guest-edited by Dr. Eylem Yanardagoglu of Macromedia University, explores the intersection of media management and migration, with a focus on how diasporic communities influence and innovate within the global media landscape.
Diasporic communities—those maintaining ties to their country of origin while residing abroad—are increasingly shaping cultural and media ecosystems. Yet, mainstream media often overlooks their unique identities and needs. This special issue seeks to highlight both the economic and creative potential of serving diasporic audiences through innovation, entrepreneurship, and inclusive representation.
