The Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS) in Bochum, Germany is now accepting applications for its prestigious Fellowship and Working Group programs. 🎓 Fellowship Program: Time to Reflect, Research, and Innovate

A CAIS Fellowship offers a unique opportunity for researchers to step away from their everyday academic or professional responsibilities and immerse themselves in focused, interdisciplinary research. Whether you’re pursuing fundamental or applied research, CAIS provides:

  • A choice of 3- or 6-month residencies in Bochum, Germany
  • Financial compensation or monthly grants (up to €2,000)
  • Free fully furnished apartments for the duration of the stay
  • Access to private offices, modern research facilities, and meeting rooms
  • Funding for research materials and guest collaborators

Additionally, fellows can apply under CAIS’s special call: “Creating a Human-Centered Future: Exploring the Promise of Industry 5.0”—an initiative that delves into ethical, social, and technological challenges of our increasingly automated world.


🤝 Working Groups: Fuel Collaborative Research

The CAIS Working Group program is designed for researchers aiming to engage in short-term, high-impact collaboration with colleagues from around the globe. Groups of up to 10 members can benefit from:

  • Fellowships will run between October 2026 and March 2027
  • Working group meetings will take place from March 2026 onward
