The Journalism and Media Studies Centre (JMSC) at The University of Hong Kong is inviting applications for the position of Post-doctoral Fellow (Ref.: 533221). This fellowship is set to commence in the first or second quarter of 2026 for a duration of 18 months, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should hold a PhD degree or equivalent in Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, or related Social Science disciplines. A strong record of publications in high-quality international journals or refereed publications is essential.
In addition, knowledge of the Chinese media system and the global social media environment and governance will be highly desirable. Candidates with expertise in computational social science, causal inference, text mining, machine learning, advanced quantitative methods, or AI in communication studies will have a distinct advantage.
Role and Responsibilities
The selected candidate will work closely with interdisciplinary scholars on a General Research Fund (GRF) research project. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting independent research and producing high-quality academic output.
- Collaborating with a team of scholars on interdisciplinary projects.
- Preparing research proposals for competitive grant applications.
